Free and open source, MIT licence
Dhoon: your private AI, with the drive to get things done.
Dhoon is a free, open-source AI assistant that runs on your own computer. It searches the web, reads your documents, plans, analyses and e-mails you the results, and your chats and files never leave home.
धुन (dhun) means the inner spark: the drive that keeps going until the work is done.
What Dhoon can do
Two agents: the full Assistant for bigger work, which plans multi-step tasks and carries them out with its tools, and the fast Quick Assistant for everyday questions. You can teach it new skills with a few lines of Python.
Research the web
Private search that reads the pages and answers with the links it used.
Your documents
Ask questions about your PDFs, Word and Excel files, searched on your own computer.
Files and Python
Writes and runs Python in a locked-down sandbox for numbers, charts and reports.
Works on a schedule
“Every morning at 7…”: it does the task and e-mails you the result.
Calendar and weather
Looks at and adds events, and checks the forecast for your day.
Stocks
Prices, history and analysis for research and learning. Not financial advice.
Private by design
Dhoon runs open models through Ollama on your own hardware, so no AI company sees your chats.
- Your files stay home. Documents are searched locally, never uploaded.
- No account, no subscription. Free and open source under the MIT licence.
- Only what you ask for goes out: the searches, pages, market data and weather the assistant fetches for you.
- E-mail only to addresses you allow. It never invents or guesses one.
- Encrypted backups if you want them, readable only with your own key.
Install with one command

Why KnowReva built Dhoon
Dhoon shows how we think about AI automation: an assistant that plans, uses real tools, works on a schedule and reports back, with people in control and data kept private. It is built on Ollama, LibreChat, SearXNG and other open-source projects, and we share it so anyone can learn from it, use it and improve it.
